Votes in the Penarth pop poll were counted under the supervision of a councillor at the Council Offices on Tuesday night, but the results have not yet been announced.

Penarth Ex-Servicemen's Club gave a turkey dinner for its 60 old age pensioner members last Thursday night, when guests of honour were the chairman of Penarth Council and the club chairman.

This weekend is Youth Weekend at Stanwell Road Baptist Church. On Saturday at 5.30pm in the Church Hall an Exhibition of work by the Guides and Scouts Troops and by the Junior Family Church (Sunday School) will include a camp fire.

During the morning service for the first Sunday in Advent at Trinity Methodist Church, members of the Primary Department of Family Church lit the first of the now familiar Advent candles.

The Christmas Fair, held in the church last Sunday, was an outstanding success. Organised by the Thursday Guild and Sewing Class it was very well attended.

The Sewing Class resumed its weekly meeting on Wednesday of this week and a warm welcome is extended to members and friends who would care to join them.

Penarth, who played controlled football and appeared to be strolling to an easy victory, conceded three goals in the last 20 minutes last Saturday to lose to a patchy Cilfynydd side.

Reluctance by Penarth's younger footballers to leave local sides to play in higher grade soccer may compel Penarth to withdraw from the South Wales Amateur League next season.

Two down after 15 minutes against Telstars at Cogan last Saturday, Penarth YMCA fought back magnificently to take their Cardiff opponents' unbeaten record in a game which produced 12 goals.

Villa Wanderers put up a pathetic performance last week when they were thrashed 6-1 by their bogey team, Colcot Youth. Two appalling defensive blunders saw Villa 2-0 down after only 10 minutes.
