AN ARTIST from Penarth has been commissioned to paint a Clark's Pies portrait.

Diana Mead of Artisan's Corner on Glebe Street created the watercolour of the shop which is based in Grangetown in Cardiff for a client.

She met the commissioner, who does not wish to be identified, at an event at Pier 64 in Penarth Marina where she spoke about her work.

The client said he found her profile attractive and that he had liked the work he had seen on the website.

Mrs Meade has worked alongside Guy Wooles and Steve John since they set up shop nearly two years ago.

They both specialise in animals with Mr John creating cartoons and Mr Wooles pet portraits.

She said: "This is good publicity for the whole of Penarth and is another string to our bow.

"Art in the town is definitely on the up.

"We have very talented artists here who are getting work and gaining recognition.

"At Artisan's Corner, we work very well as a team and we back each other up."

She says she feels they have become part of the community which includes cracking shops and nice diversity.

She said: "I am really enjoying it and intend to keep going.

"We like to be involved and want to promote that community feel."

The work is now on sale at Artisan's Corner and at the pie shop itself.
