A BARBER is looking to defend his best Welsh wet shaver crown for the third year running.

Sean Sweeney of Sweeney's Barber Shop in Dinas Powys is through to the regional finals of the British Best Wet Shave competition.

The competition, sponsored by grooming product company Blue Beard Revenge, aims to celebrate the most creative and innovative of British wet shave barbering and showcase the growing global reach and talent of the UK wet shaving industry.

Mr Sweeney is taking part in his third Welsh final having won the previous two and will be competing at Excelsior Industrial Estate in Batchelor Road, Cardiff on March 9.

He will have to perform a shave using the Bluebeards Revenge products on a model in the fastest time possible with a maximum of 30 minutes to complete the shave.

He will be judged by the British Barbers' Association on a number of different factors including preparation, razor technique, after shave routine and health and safety before being given a total score.

The 12 regional winners will be announced in March with the top seven highest scoring regional winners and last year’s national winner going on the Barber UK final.

That means, if successful in the Welsh finals, Mr Sweeney could go on to compete at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham in May for the national finals.

This is his third time in the Welsh final and he won the last two.

He said: "I am really happy to be defending my Welsh title again this year and I am looking forward to going up against Wales' best wet shave barbers in 2017.

"It should be a good turn out as this year the finals are held in Cardiff in March 2017."
