Extracts from the Penarth Times of January 20, 1967:

Three housing trusts are at present showing interest in flat and flatlet developments for Penarth.

Following last week's announcement that the Woodlands Housing Trust are going ahead with their plans to develop the site of the disused St Paul's Church in Arcot Street, Penarth Council, on Monday, received a representative of the Cardiff and Gwent Housing Association.

The St Luke's Housing Estate is to get a new look following a decision by Penarth Council this week to plan grass areas with trees and possibly a play area.

A town Twinning committee is to be set up following the recent decision by Penarth Council to go ahead with plans to twin with the French town of St Pol de Leon.

The meetings of the various organisations of Stanwell Road Baptist Church resume in full strength this week after the Christmas recess, during which period many parties were held in the church hall.

The Scouts of the 5th Penarth Group which is attached to St David's Church began a training programme in September which has involved them in a number of different projects.

At the end of September, 16 scouts went for rowing practice at Roath Park, each scout taking turns at rowing his team's boat.

Penarth continued their long run of defeats last Saturday when they lost an unexciting game at Maesteg by 15 points to nil. The score flattered the home side who were never in complete control of the match.

However, they deserved their victory because they took the chances that came their way, while Penarth wasted several scoring opportunities.

Penarthian 1st XV journeyed to Pengam Airport on Saturday last for their fixture with Old Howardians and were pleased to find that, apart from a playing surface roughened by previous games, conditions were ideally suited to open football.
