A STUDY into traffic issues in Dinas Powys worth £15,000 has been agreed.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council with Welsh Government have agreed to fund the study to explore the transport network issues and opportunities for Dinas Powys.
The money will be spent on analysing the village’s current transport network, with the aim of identifying any issues with it and ways they might be resolved.
Council and Welsh Government officials met in December to discuss the network and Welsh Government officials agreed to consider putting in a funding request to the cabinet secretary.
Discussions have been taking place on this subject for a number of weeks.
The study will be carried out over the coming months with funding for the study coming from both parties and focused on policies and proposals in the emerging Local Development Plan.
Councillor Peter King, cabinet member for building services, highways and transportation, said:
"We are aware of residents’ concerns regarding the traffic situation in Dinas Powys.
"After successful discussions, we are pleased to announce that, in partnership with Welsh Government, we will undertake a wide-ranging study of the transport network in Dinas Powys.
"As part of this process there will be consultation with representatives of the local community and opportunities for people to come forward with their ideas, all of which will be considered.
"We hope that this study will identify realistic and deliverable solutions to the issues identified."
