FOR the eighth year running, a charity golf day in aid of The Better Life Appeal - All Wales Adults Cystic Fibrosis Centre - was held in Glamorganshire Golf Club, Penarth, organised by Pete and Rhys Goodfellow.

The weather again held off and the course was in excellent condition for this event.

A record number of 22 teams participated in this year’s event in a four man (plus a few women) team Stableford event where the best three scores per hole counted.

Prior to the presentations being made by the new “Match and Handicap” captain Paul Brown, Glamorganshire Golf Club vice captain, Peter “Jammy” James, said a few kind words on behalf of the club for again supporting such a great cause at the golf club.

The team results for the day were as follows:-

1 Team Peter Wilson

2 Team Nick Grimmitt

3 Match Captains team

4 Royston Motors team

5 TIC Recruitment (Andrew Wigford) team

6 David Baker Estate Agents team

The longest drive on the 15th was won by Richard Baker, nearest the pin on the seventh was won by Pete Goodfellow and the 18th by Mike Matthews.

The best endeavour award went to Team Jack Louch – it’s the taking part that counts in an event like this and thanks to all teams for participating, together with those who danced the night away to DJ Stu Underhill.

Following on from an excellent curry/chilli provided by the great catering team - Jim/Zibby plus Ollie's bar staff - a raffle was then held and a big thanks to Ben Luck for collecting more than £900.

The total amount raised this year was a record for the event of some £3680.

The organisers would again like to thank Glamorganshire Golf Club for allowing the trust to have use of the course and great facilities – Russell and Jim please keep up the good work you are both doing plus all your staff on and off the course as it’s greatly appreciated by all.

Also the organisers would like to thank the following for donating raffle prizes and more – SET Office supplies (Sam Docherty), Stu Clarke, Steve Newman (Acorn recruitment), Richard Latts, Darryl Gardner, Ed Goodfellow (Marconi Holiday Village), Richard and Penny Hughes, Richard Jeremy, Sean Begley, Teri (Alan Sadlers), Phil Parker (Latch) and Andrew and Alex in the Professional shop at Glamorganshire Golf Club.
