THOUSANDS of pounds worth of jewellery, cash and cufflinks were stolen in two house burglaries.

Officers investigating two burglaries in the Penarth area are appealing for the public’s help to identify a man seen near one of the addresses.

Sometime between 10.30am and 1.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, May 24), a quantity of cash and a pair of distinctive Mulberry cufflinks were stolen from a house on Westbourne Road.

A short time later at 2.30pm, an address on Penlan Road, Llandough, was broken in to with thousands of pounds worth of jewellery stolen.

Around the same time, a man was seen climbing the fence of Llandough Primary School, which backs on to a property on Penlan Road, and fleeing the scene.

He is described as white, in his teens to mid-twenties, approximately 6ft tall and with fair medium length hair.

He was wearing a dark baseball hat and clothing, gardening boots and gloves. He was possibly carrying a rucksack.

Detective inspector Terry Hopkins said: "These burglaries happened yesterday in broad daylight and in relatively busy areas.

"There is every chance other people witnessed this suspect and we’d like to hear from anyone who thinks they may have.

"Any additional information, however small, could help us identify who this man is."
