PENARTH Tourism and Visitor Association are organising a series of events in September celebrating the history of the town.

Penarth History Month will launch with an exhibition "Penarth through time" at the Turner House Gallery on the weekend of Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 10.

Talks and presentations on the history of the railway and station approach, the cinema in Penarth and Soloman Andrews will follow.

One of the organisers Martin Gossage said:"This is our initial small scale event.

"We are focussing on the town centre.

"Next year is Wales Year of the Sea and we will highlight the docks, Esplanade and seafront gardens perhaps featuring a Victorian themed evening strolling on The Esplanade.

"We are so pleased to be using the iconic Turner House for the launch exhibition and want to thank David Drake and his staff for their collaboration.

"Please look out for the posters and further info advertising the details of the events."
