AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a Barry resident reported the Vale mayor’s car parked in a disabled bay at a Barry supermarket.
Steve Durbin photographed the Vale mayoral car at the Cadoxton Tesco Express, around 11am on Monday, August 7.
Mr Durbin, posting on Facebook, said: “Vale of Glamorgan mayoral car parked in disabled space at Tesco Express - so I, with disabled son in car, could not use it. No badge, only driver present. Set an example please Vale of Glamorgan Council.”
A Vale council spokesman said: “The council was made aware of this incident on Monday morning and immediately launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding it. We have also offered a sincere apology to Mr Durbin.
“The unauthorised parking in disabled bays is completely unacceptable and a matter the council takes extremely seriously. This is why an immediate investigation has been launched.”
