BRO Radio station manager Gareth Sweeney has confirmed he is to step down from his position at the broadcaster.
The Barry-based radio station confirmed the news in a statement issued this morning by managing director Clive Silver and director Phil Kirkham.
The statement reads:
"Following lengthy deliberations on his part, a decision has been made by Gareth Sweeney to step down from his position as Bro Radio Station Manager. This has no doubt been a difficult decision for Gareth to make, but one which will allow him to pursue another exciting career opportunity.
"Gareth has been a much valued and respected member of the Bro Team, and having been part of it’s development since Bro’s early day’s of taking to the air waves in 2009.
"Throughout Gareth’s involvement with Bro Radio it has been evident regarding his passion for local radio, and coupled to the important role it fulfils in the local community, together with it’s listeners and those volunteers who have played a crucial role in delivering Bro Radio.
"Given Gareth’s continuing interest in local radio and Bro, we are pleased to say that it will be his intention to retain close links with the station and where possible presenting programmes and his involvement and participation with outside broadcasts.
"We would like to take this opportunity of thanking Gareth for the commitment and support he has given to Bro and wish him well in his new ventures."
