THE ever popular Dinas Powys Village Show returns to the village next month.

This year, the show will be held on Saturday, September 2.

It takes place at the Parish and Lee Halls and Gardens with doors opening at 1.45pm.

Lots of interest has been shown in the show over the years it has been held.

With more than 130 classes catering for all ages, and with a £3 cash prize for first place in each class, it is a very popular occasion and attracts entries from all over the Vale.

Organisers say the show is a fun afternoon and a chance to meet up with family and friends and make new ones.

The cost of entry is 50p for adults and free for children.

There will be a raffle and music from the very popular Dinas Powis Ecumenical Seven.

Also, for the first time, there will be performances from Mario Morris Magic balloon modelling, Meccano exhibits, free face painting and Owls for U.

The show will also feature the popular Women’s Institute teas, a free bouncy castle and several community gazebos featuring village organisations.

The remaining copies of the booklet Around Dinas Powys will be on sale again for £3.50.

It was first published in 1993 by the well respected walks leader, the late George Thomas, and illustrated by the late Don Offord,

‘The Village Trail’ within the booklet has been updated as have the five walks in the original edition with new maps.
