A PENARTH man has pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children.

James Hemmings, 61, of Brockhill Way, Penarth, admitted three counts of possessing indecent images of children, one count of possessing extreme pornographic images and one count of possessing prohibited images of children when he appeared at Newport Crown Court today (Friday, August 18).

The images were found in his possession on February 2 this year and include 14 category A images, eight category B images and 224 category C images.

The court heard how Hemmings is also serving a nine month community order of which he is in breach.

He has previous convictions for making indecent photos of children and for sexual assault against children.

Judge Thomas Crowther adjourned sentencing for a pre sentence report to be prepared.

Mr Hemmings was given bail on condition that he has no access to an internet enabled device which does not keep a permanent record of sites visited and that he has no unsupervised contact with someone under the age of 16 save in a situation that is unavoidable.
