A MEMBER of the Dinas Powys Rotary Club has been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by his fellow Rotarians, in recognition of his outstanding commitment to the club and the community.

Colin Jones helped organise and participated in the recent 110-mile charity cycle ride from Calais, France to Bruges, Belgium on behalf of Prostate Cancer Cymru and Rotary International Charities, which to date has raised over £11,000. He is also a prominent member of the Classic Car Show committee and has taken on responsibility for leading the 2018 event.

Mr Jones was club president for the year 2014/15, during which time he helped to raise £5,000 for nominated charities McMillan Cancer Support and Cerebral Palsy Sport.

As well as his Rotary activities, Colin is a dedicated member of the Sully Sports and Social club, where he acts as part of the management committee for Sully Sports and is vice-chairman of the football section.

Presenting the award on behalf of the club, Kevin Fowler said: "I am delighted that we are able to recognise the outstanding contribution Colin has given to the Sully and Dinas Powys communities and especially the Rotary Club.
