BACK in 1967 an old established Penarth firm went about getting a new look.
Evan Roberts Ltd opened their new women’s fashion wear department on Windsor Road in October of that year in conjunction with their menswear shop.
The company had taken over the family business of Brockington, Son and Co six years previously.
Evan Roberts followed through A Brockington’s plans for redevelopment to include menswear and women’s fashion but this was not possible until the adjoining premises became vacant towards the end of the previous year.
A new shop front was installed taking in both buildings and giving central access to both men’s and women’s departments.
The work on the women’s department involved the gutting of the interior to give more space on both the ground floor and the first floor.
