CROESO Penarth has arranged a series of six soup lunches to raise funds to house a Syrian family in the town.

The first of these Lunches for Syria took place on Friday, September 22 in Stanwell Baptist Church Hall when women from Albert Road Methodist Church treated visitors to a choice of soups, a roll, cheese and tea or coffee all for £5.

Croeso Penarth is very grateful to Penarth and District Cytun for supporting its initiative and to the churches of Penarth for providing these lunches, which continue in Stanwell Road Baptist Church Hall every Friday until October 27.

Visitors are welcome to attend between 12pm and 1.30pm on each of the Fridays to discover more about the project.

The recently appointed chairman of Penarth Cytun (Council of Churches) the Rev Canon Peter Cox attended the Lunches for Syria on Friday and encourages everyone to support this worthy cause.

On Sunday, October 8 at 6pm in All Saints Church, the Rev Cox will be inducted into his role as chairman of Cytun.
