A CHARITY which helps older residents in Dinas Powys is hosting an evening of Rock 'n' Roll in aid of its minibus appeal.

The Rock&Chips event featuring Penarth band The Cyclones will take place later this month.

The present DPVC minibus which has been adapted to meet the needs of wheelchair users and passengers with mobility problems, has been in constant use providing safe, escorted transport to a local supermarket five times a fortnight, to local clubs and is used by local organisations including the RVS Lunch Club

This minibus is being replaced in 2018 after nine years of service and the new vehicle will cost more than £60,000.

A spokesman for DPVC said: "We are grateful for the wonderful support we have received from local organisations, individual donations and from fundraising by DPVC volunteers and from great evenings like Rock&Chips in helping to make this possible."

The event takes place at Murchfield Community Centre on Saturday, October 21 starting at 7pm.

A licensed bar and Joe’s Ice Cream will be available. The Cyclones will be making their third visit to Murchfield Community Centre having previously having played there as part of Dinas Powys Fringe Festival and fundraising for the charity’s minibus appeal.
