THIS week’s From the Archive feature focuses on the Cogan “Rec” in the 1970s.
This picture was taken in 1974 during a jazz band competition in progress.
Penarth Leisure Centre was built on this site more than 20 years later.
In the 1950s and 1960s a travelling fair would set up for two weeks here during the school summer holidays.
Many thanks to Mr. Philip Dawson from the Images of Bygone Penarth Facebook page for contributing the image.
Each week we take a look at a photograph from the town’s past and explore the history behind it.
If you have a historical picture of Penarth you would like to see included in our From the Archives section, please email it to penarthtimes@penarthtimes.co.uk.
Also include some contact details and a short explanation of who and what is being shown in the photograph.
