THE first Penarth Fashion Week in aid of the RNLI has been hailed a success.

The 15 days of events were held at locations throughout the town to raise money for the town's lifeboat station.

A special RNLI dress and suit were designed for the occasion.

The week or so of events began with a fashion show hosted by Gingers at St Augustine's Church Hall on October 5.

On October 9, The Queen B of Stanwell Road hosted an event with an after party at Etc.

Blu Hair Design welcomed guests to a show on Thursday, October 12 in the Washington Buildings with a gin tasting event held at Crepe Escape on Glebe Street the same night.

On Sunday (October 15), award winning chef James Sommerin cooked a fish supper for guests at the station on The Esplanade.

Pupils at Fairfield Primary School raised more than £300 through a dress down day for the RNLI.

Lifeboat operations manager Jason Dunlop said: "My thanks, and those of the crew, go to all the organiser and supporters who have made Penarth fashion week such a success.

"The enthusiasm and support of our local community meant that out first fashion week almost turned into a fashion fortnight with a wide range of events culminating in our very own fashion show at the lifeboat station.

"The funds raised will go directly to Penarth RNLI station and will be used to ensure that our volunteer cruise have access to the best equipment and training is available to enable them to continue to save lives at sea."
