THE latest From the Archive feature focuses on Penarth’s main road.

Here is Windsor Road in 1932 on an early summer morning just as the shops are opening.

There are a host of shop names and businesses which will bring back many memories for a lot of Penarthians.

On the right hand side there is The Direct Trading Co. Ltd, Fulton Dunlop and Co selling wines, beers and spirits, Howells Bros. drapers, Stranaghan and Stephens grocers and Cook’s Furnishing Stores.

On the left hand side, Cash and Co boots and shoes, Brockington and Son, tailors and H.G. Cuthberts confectioners.

Many thanks to Andrew Coslett from Images of Bygone Penarth for providing the image.
