TWO Penarth hypnotherapists have been awarded Diplomas in Medical Hypnotherapy from the prestigious Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy training College in Bristol (CPHT).

Enfys Jones and Gareth Strangemore-Jones of The Penarth Practice received the honour from the Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training College in Bristol.

They offer medical hypnotherapy and clinical solution focused psychotherapy at their practice based in Rowan Close.

They offer their time as volunteers at the Marie Curie Cardiff and the Vale Hospice in the town, providing hypnotherapy support to patients and carers at the day therapy unit and the inpatient unit.

They have been completing their research training during these volunteering hours.

“We are so proud to volunteer our services at Marie Curie's Cardiff and the Vale Hospice," Gareth said.

Enfys added: “We are so passionate about our work, this accolade is a great privilege and we celebrate in gratitude of our continued success."

“This advanced professional course of study demonstrates a comprehensive degree of expertise and technical knowledge and Gareth and Enfys are therefore now qualified to practise Hypnotherapy in a medical environment," said David Newton Founder of CPHT.

The specific areas developed through their research training enables them to help people undergoing Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, those suffering from Emetophobia or needle phobia and also support those through palliative care and bereavement.

This particular cutting edge training relies on the essence of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (SFH) with specific relevance to the hospital environment.

The latest Neuroscience techniques are utilised to provide the best care for individuals.

During the research process Gareth and Enfys studied EEG recordings of brain activity to harness further benefits of SFH to help and support all matters of the mind.

They have also studied advanced modules in how we can change the physical structures of the brain as well as feelings and emotions and how the brain affects the rest of our health through the immune system).

Sam Clements, nurse manager day therapy, said: “The support of volunteers like Enfys and Gareth is vital to help us provide that extra support to patients and carers who find they may benefit from holistic therapies.

“We’re so pleased we are also able to help Gareth and Enfys gain such an accolade during their time here.”

Gareth and Enfys won The Zokit Business Award 2017 for Outstanding Contribution to the Community, as judged by Cancer Research Wales.
