PENARTH assembly member Vaughan Gething welcomed BAFTA winner Rungano Nyoni to The Senedd recently.
Ms Nyoni is the writer and director of the film "I Am Not a Witch" and her family live in Penarth
The award winning film set in Zambia Rungano's film "I Am Not a Witch" was recently nominated for and won the Outstanding Debut By a British Writer, Director or Producer at this year's BAFTAs.
Last year it won three British Independent Film Awards, including Best Director.
Before making her feature debut, Ms Nyoni made several short films, including BAFTA Cymru winner The List, and was supported from an early age by Ffilm Cymru Wales through the BFI Network Wales emerging talent fund.
Mr Gething said: "I am very proud of Rungano's continuing success. The recognition of this year's BAFTAs should help further promote her career. I look forward to celebrating her success and show the film in the assembly as soon as we can agree a date."
Ms Nyoni said: βIt's an honour bringing the BAFTA back to Wales. I'm excited that Vaughan has agreed to support a screening of the film at the Senedd. I couldn't wish for more.β
