COMPASS Coffee on Penarth Marina, has been crowned as the best coffee shop in Wales at a Cardiff magazine’s awards.

The small but popular coffee shop serves Welsh produce, is famed for its breakfasts, and is fast becoming the most successful coffee shop in Penarth’s history.

Cardiff Life magazine celebrated its awards at City Hall, Cardiff, crowning the very best in Welsh business at a ceremony hosted by Welsh international rugby referee Nigel Owens.

More than 450 people watched as Compass Coffee directors Craig Pugh and Marcus Hill accepted their award.

In a statement issued after the awards the coffee shop owners said: “We were not expecting to win anything tonight and have to thank the best staff in the world and the awesome and loyal customer base we have.”

The award was decided by a panel of 10 business executives including Jessica Shipman, director of Natwest Cardiff and South East Wales and Emma Leeke, managing director of Leekes.

Compass have already been crowned best cafe/bistro in Wales at the Food Awards Wales 2017 and best coffee shop in Cardiff 2017 by website ThreeBestRated.com, the only independent to win the award in 2017 for the Cardiff region.

The coffee shop has now been nominated as finalists in both this year’s Regional Awards and Food Awards Wales 2018.

Both ceremonies are set to take place in April.
