VALE organisations and clubs are set to benefit from £76,100 as part of the Community Chest funding scheme.

The Community Chest is funded by Sport Wales and managed locally by the Vale council’s sports & play development team.

Twenty-eight different sports and physical activities across the Vale will benefit, allowing 200 people to attend coaching training.

Fifty-nine can start first aid training and 38 can attend safeguarding training.

Organisations can apply for funding to assist with creating new activities or improving existing activities.

The funding can be used for areas such as coach and volunteer education, purchase of equipment for new activities, and coaching costs for new activities and marketing.

Community Chest funding can also develop new physical activity opportunities, such as running and cycling groups.

Non-sport organisations that have previously been successful in receiving funding include air cadet groups, community associations, housing associations and youth clubs.

Most organisations can apply as long as they can demonstrate they are developing regular new activity and can meet the criteria.

The Community Chest scheme will run from April this year, with £81,500 allocated to the Vale of Glamorgan for the forthcoming year.

The next community chest panel meeting will take place on Thursday, April 19.

The deadline for applications is Thursday, April 5.
