OWNERS of a popular restaurant on the Penarth seafront are celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Mike Caplan-Hill and Sandie Guppy began restoring the derelict Victorian beach shelter on the seafront in Penarth, transforming it into the Fig Tree Restaurant.

The duo's vision was to serve ethical, fresh, local food, while enjoying one of the best locations in Wales.

And since opening the restaurant, Mr Caplan-Hill and Ms Guppy say they have not changed their ethos.

β€œIt's been a rollercoaster ride and I can't believe we are entering our 10th year,” said Mr Caplan-Hill. "We are extremely grateful to our customers, who have supported us year after year."

The converted shelter sits back from the road in an elevated position on the esplanade in Penarth, with views over the Bristol Channel to the Somerset coast.

The duo say they have enjoyed the past 10 years and will carry on to run their restaurant for as long as possiblr.

The Fig Tree will be running celebratory promotions throughout the summer so check Facebook and the Fig Tree web site for tenth birthday special deals.
