Penarth-based Ffotogallery has been named as one of 38 causes across the UK to receive a grant of £35k as part of the NatWest ‘Skills and Opportunities Fund’.

The not-for-profit organisation will use the grant to fund its new 40:40 Vision Creative Skills Academy for 16 to 30-year-olds wanting to work in the creative industries.

Targeting individuals from diverse and economically disadvantaged communities in South Wales, the academy will offer opportunities to 40 young people as it aims to increase their self-confidence and broaden their horizons.

Since its launch, the NatWest Skills & Opportunities Fund has benefitted more than 68,700 people in England and Wales; including helping to create over 1,200 jobs and over 820 new businesses, as well as supporting people to achieve more than 8,940 qualifications.

Adrian Aurelius, chairman of the NatWest Cymru regional board, said: “Ffotogallery’s 40:40 Vision Creative Skills Academy is a shining example of a community-inspired organisation working to provide opportunities for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

“We want to help build better communities for everyone, which is why NatWest Cymru is proud to support initiatives and projects like this through our Skills and Opportunities Fund. We look forward to learning more about the success of the academy and the people it helps throughout the project.”
