AN EXCITING weekend is in store for Penarth on July 14 and 15 as the Penarth Summer Festival makes its grand return.

The event has been a fixture in the community calendar since 1965, and with this year’s festival being delivered by the newly partnered Penarth Town Council and events production company Genero Group, it’s predicted to be bigger and better than ever before.

Spanning over two days, this year’s Penarth Summer Festival is set to entertain local families and visitors with an array of food, performances and spectacles for all ages. Kicking off the festivities on Saturday will be the much-anticipated Downhill Derby, followed by an afternoon packed with live music and entertainment.

Visitors can expect performances by Britpop band Modifi, Primo Acoustic Duo and many more, as well as exciting waterfront demonstrations with Penarth Water Ski Club and the RNLI.

To end the first day with a bang, a fireworks display will be held in the late evening before the festivities continue on Sunday with even more live music, demonstrations and the FIFA World Cup Final will be shown on a Jumbo LED screen.

There will also be stalls featuring local charities and communities including Penarth Library, and younger guests can expect to be treated to fairground rides, a live DJ and a range of children’s entertainment.

Penarth Summer Festival will be the second event produced by Genero Group and Penarth Town Council, with last month’s Picnic Penarth being their first.
