ST ANDREWS Church in Wales Primary School in Dinas Powys is celebrating after being awarded an internationally acclaimed eco-award.

St Andrews has been awarded their second Green Flag Award thanks to the environmental education programme Eco-Schools.

Eco-Schools is an international programme run in Wales by environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy and funded by the Welsh Government. Over More than 90% of schools in Wales are registered on the programme.

As part of their Eco-Schools assessment, St Andrews did many activities, including Enterprise Trooper Regional Finalists and continued ongoing charity work and outdoor learning, daily activities.

Head teacher,Gen Hallett said: “I am so proud of everyone in our school community and am especially pleased that the hard work of the pupils and staff has been recognised.

“Our school is committed to raising awareness of environmental and global issues to ensure our pupils are well informed global citizens of both now and the future. These topics are not merely tagged on but are embedded into many areas of our curriculum.

“We are also very lucky to have such amazing outdoor spaces which enhance the learning experiences for all our pupils.”
