THE trial of a Penarth motorcyclist, charged with causing the death of a Cardiff schoolboy, was halted this week after a juror fell ill.
Alan Carter, aged 32, of Elfed Avenue, denies the charge of causing death by dangerous driving, following a collision with teenager Bill Lockwood in January.
The court had heard that 15-year-old Bill was just yards from his father's home when he was knocked down by the 125cc Yamaha motorcycle ridden by Carter.
The accident occurred at the junction of Clive Road, Grosvenor Street and Cowbridge Road East in Canton.
In court on Wednesday, Judge Peter Griffiths QC told the remaining 11 jurors they would not be needed for the rest of the day.
He said that if the twelfth juror remained unwell, a decision would be taken on whether to continue or begin the trial again with a new jury.
