THE Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth is calling on all budding trekkers to join a group from the local area to trek across the Sahara desert to raise funds for terminally ill cancer patients.
This is the second trek of its kind - last year 21 people took on the challenge of climbing the highest mountain in North Africa raising an astonishing £50,000 for the Hospice in Penarth.
The trek is aimed at everyone, from young to old.Although you need a good level of fitness, you have plenty of time to train before November when the trek takes place.
You will trek for three days across the Sahara desert and with every step you take, you will be raising funds for the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth.
You need to raise a minimum of £1,900 to take part and a dedicated fundraiser will help you along your way.
If you are keen or have any questions, then contact Claire Notman on 029 2042 6068 or email claire.notman@mariecurie.org.uk The Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth costs over £3.6 million a year to fund and 70 per cent of this comes from voluntary contributions including money raised from running events.
Marie Curie community nurses also attend patients at their home, offering hands-on care to those who are able to spend their last day at home in the comfort of their family.
