FORMER Penarth vagrant Gary Cooper was arrested in the town centre again - four months after telling the Penarth Times that he had turned over a new leaf.

Cooper was banned from entering an exclusion zone in Penarth last July after committing a string of public order offences.

Under the terms of his his Anti Social Behaviour Order (Asbo), the 46-year-old is forbidden from entering the town centre and from consuming alcohol in any public place within one mile of Penarth railway station.

He has already served 120 days behind bars after breaching his Asbo, which is in force until March 12, 2009.

And on August 12 he was back in trouble after CCTV cameras spotted him drinking alcohol on Windsor Road.

Cooper’s arrest comes after he told the Penarth Times that he was winning his battle to beat the booze.

Speaking in April, he said: “I’ve been dry for two months and I’ll see you all next year when my Asbo has finished.”

Cooper was remanded in custody and will appear at Cardiff Crown Court to be sentenced hearing on September 5.
