Festival fun starts today!


The Penarth Summer Festival 2009 officially starts today! The fun-packed programme of events can be viewed and downloaded at www.penarth-tc.gov.uk or www.penarthfestival.com Alternatively pick up a copy at the Town Council offices, West House, or in many Penarth shops. There are many things to enjoy, from shows at the Paget Rooms, activities at the Kymin, to the excitement of Finale Day on July 18, taking place on the Esplanade from 3pm.

There will be aircraft displays, RNLI/Sea King rescue, Bay Island Voyages, water ski displays, children’s rides, good food – and you can even take a helicopter ride from the Cliff Tops (tel: Catherine at Veritair on 029 2046 5880) In addition to the printed programme, the following activities are also taking place: Friday, July 10, 7.30pm until late at the Paget Rooms: Spotlight – live concert with four local bands in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust (Wales). Pay on the door, £6 adults, £7 balcony, £4 concessions.

Saturday, July 11, 10am-noon at Stanwell Baptist Church (next to Paget Rooms): Keep Penarth Clean and Tidy Exhibition.

Please note there was a printing error for the following event: Penarth Pirate Fun Day at the Cliff Tops, scheduled in the printed programme for July 19, actually takes place this Sunday, July 12 from 12.30pm to 6pm at the Cliff Tops and will feature a 100ft inflatable obstacle course, a 35ft mega slide, bouncy castle, barbecue, raffle, stalls, plus much, much more.
