PENARTH-raised Eddie Roberts has been named in the BBC’s Fantasy Funk Band, as part of the 75th anniversay celebrations for the legendary Maida Vale studios.
Eddie, who moved to Penarth from Swansea at the age of 9, is currently a member of The New Mastersounds -a band he co-founded over 10 years ago - and has just released their sixth studio album named Ten Years On. The former Ysgol Pen Y Garth pupil, who studied Jazz at Leeds College of Music, was voted into the hall of fame by listeners of the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC Radio 6.
Guitarist Eddie, who also fronts jazz band Roughneck, was named alonside nine other musicians who got together at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios to record a selection of classic tunes.
The New Mastersounds album is now available to download on itunes, with a CD due for release on November 16.
