A GRAFFITI artist who has been compared to renowned British street painter Banksy has left his mark in Penarth.
The mysterious artist - known only as Reddy - has already painted several images on buildings throughout Barry.
But on Monday, January 25, a new design was found on a wall of The Railway pub, in Plymouth Road, Penarth.
As our picture shows, the graffiti shows the famous image of Britannia - but with the iconic goddess sat in a wheelchair and with a dog by her side.
Reddy’s work in Barry includes a robot figure on the side of a garage on Dock View Road, a Muslim woman on ramp number one at Whitmore Bay, Barry Island, and a soldier on the offices of the Penarth Times and the Barry & District News in Holton Road.
Staff at The Railway pub could not confirm if the artwork is to be removed but Penarth Times reader Kristiaan Davies, who works next to the pub, hopes it stays.
“It must have been done over the weekend (January 23/24) as there was nothing on the Friday night, but it was there on the Monday morning,” he said.
“I’m not sure if the pub plans on painting over the graffiti.
“Personally I hope they keep it.”
An exhibition by world-famous street artist Banksy, whose identity remains a secret, attracted more than 300,000 visitors to the Bristol City Museum last summer.
