A SERVICE to help people find out what benefits they are entitled to is up and running in Penarth.
The Income Health Check is an outreach service based at West House every Friday (10am to 12noon) until April.
The Penarth Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) shut in March 2008, leaving many local residents unhappy at the closure.
Deborah Tann, of the Vale of Glamorgan Citizens Advice Bureau, said: “Penarth residents can turn up without an appointment and we’ll do a quick income check to see what benefits they may be entitled to.
“Ever since the CAB closed in Penarth, local residents have had to travel to Cardiff and Barry which can be difficult, particularly for elderly people.
“The service has been running in Penarth since the middle of January,” she added.
“So far it’s been popular and we’re hoping to extend the scheme.”
