IF YOU are planning on learning Welsh, but just want to try a short taster to see what is involved in learning a language, now is your chance.

A two-week taster course will take place at Albert Road Church and Community Centre in Penarth.

The course will run on two successive Wednesdays – June 30 and July 7 – from 9.30am to 12 noon, and will give you an opportunity to get to grips with a range of everyday topics. Course tutor, Suzanne Condon said: "This course opens the door to a lot of Welsh language and cultural opportunities.

"Complete beginners are welcome to come and try out this course, which also gives you the opportunity to gain a certificate and to learn about a whole range of Welsh courses to run in the local area in September. "The ‘Blasu’ or taster course has an emphasis on spoken Welsh and people are able to find out how to get involved in the language and cultural events available in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan."

For details of this Welsh taster course please contact Penarth Community Learning centre on 029 2070 1569 or email padedcen@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk for more information.
