A POWER CUT left a number of Penarth homes without electricity last week - for the second time this year.
Some 1,724 homes in lower Penarth were left without supply for over an hour on Wednesday, February 2, because of an underground cable fault.
A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution said: “Unfortunately things like this do happen from time to time, but nevertheless we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.”
Early last month more than 10,000 homes were left without electricity after vandals tampered with metal at the area’s primary substation.
But Western Power said there was no sign of interference on this occasion.
“There was no criminal activity behind this recent shortage, just an unfortunate cable fault,” added the spokesperson.
