PENARTH'S neighbourhood police officers issued 30 Fixed Penalty Notices on Monday and Tuesday this week, for parking offences in and around the town centre.
The action follows last week's warning of a 'robust' approach to illegal and inconsiderate parking in the town (Penarth Times, February 10), and covered the central area and Station Approach.
Penarth Neighbourhood Sergeant Paul Francis said: “This positive approach will continue for the foreseeable future and will be extended into other problem areas of Penarth.
“While I appreciate this has upset some motorists, it is up to them to park correctly and respect the regulations.
“My team will carry on with this approach in response to complaints from concerned members of the public and PACT priorities," he added.
“The parking regulations are there for a purpose. The one and two hour restrictions are there to enable visitors’ ease of access to local shops.
“I am reminding motorists that PCSOs and police officers have traffic powers and are exercising them when dealing with PACT priorities and when on patrol across Penarth.”
