AN ELDERLY couple escaped serious injury this week when their car flipped, landing on its roof and trapping them inside.
The car overturned on Victoria Road, near All Saints Church, on Monday afternoon (April 28).
Chris Loyn of Loyn & Co Architects on Victoria Road, said he saw the accident as he looked out of his upstairs window at around 4.20pm.
“There was a loud screech and then the car flipped, smashing on to its roof on the road right below the window,” he said.
“I yelled for someone in the office to call an ambulance and rushed outside.
“It was obviously quite traumatic for the couple but I don’t think either of them were seriously hurt.”
Sue Oliver, another resident, said: “The fire service and the ambulance crew were on hand within 10 minutes.”
The road was closed while debris was cleared and the car removed.
An Ambulance Service spokesman said both people involved were taken to the University Hospital of Wales as a precaution.
