Sea Sunday service in Penarth this afternoon

SEA Sunday will be marked again this year by an Open Air Service on Sunday, July 15, at 3pm in the Italian Gardens on the Promenade overlooking the sea.

Canon Roger Williams, who is leading the service, said: "This is a very visible way of the community acknowledging and respecting those who go to sea on our behalf.

"Here in Penarth we have such a close connection with seafaring it is only right that the Christian community should come together and offer our thanks and prayers."

Members of the RNLI, the Sea Cadets, the British Legion and the Coastguard Service will process from the RNLI slipway at 2.50pm. Music will be led by the Salvation Army band and the lesson will be read by the Town Mayor, Cllr Philip Rapier.

In the event of very wet weather the service will take place in the Boathouse.
