ONE of Penarth's oldest residents celebrated her 102nd birthday last week.

Margaret Hilson, who has lived in the town since 1945, was born in Derbyshire on July 6, 1910. One of five girls, she moved to the area in her 30s and worked as a nurse for many years at St DavidÕs Hospital.

She also spent time looking after elderly people in the community, and worked part time at Holme Tower and Penylan Home in Cardiff.

Penarth Town Mayor, Cllr Philip Rapier, paid her a special visit on Friday to help her celebrate.
