Penarth young people enjoy Challenge Wales adventure
MEMBERS of Penarth Youth Action recently assisted in sailing the 72 foot round-the-world yacht, Challenge Wales on a one day voyage.
The exhilarating experience aimed to help young people broaden their horizons and develop their personal and social skills through hands-on sailing and challenging tasks, all under the watchful eye of the skipper and crew.
The group sailed from Penarth Marina and into the Bristol Channel passing Weston-super-Mare, Steep Holm and Flat Holm, including some well earned time to sunbathe on deck when winds were low. Penarth Youth Action used the opportunity to improve their communication skills as a group, work together and support each other as a team throughout the day.
A PYA spokesman said: "Everyone on board would like to thank staff at Challenge Wales for such a great experience, and would encourage other youth groups to take on the challenge!"
