Dogs in need of homes - Flower, Harry and Charlie

THE Barry & District News and Penarth Times have joined forces with the Vale of Glamorgan Dog Warden Service to publicise the work of the area's kennels - and to find homes for some of its residents.

* Flower is a two-year-old Terrier with brown ears. Flower was attacked by another dog, but has been nursed back to health by Croft Rescue Kennels. Flower is house trained and gets on well with other dogs as well as cats.

* Harry is a one-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, so he is very excitable and likes to be around people. He is white with tan patches - a very handsome young chap who needs a loving home.

* Charlie is a 10-year-old Labrador cross, and a long-term resident of Croft Rescue Kennels. Don't be put off by his age, as he is very well behaved and is taken to lots of events by the staff.

Croft Kennels at Bridgend is where the Vale's stray and unwanted dogs are cared for.

The purpose-built kennels in Coity become the temporary home for all dogs picked up by the Vale Council's Dog Wardens, until they are reunited with their families or adopted by new ones.

The Wardens stress that adopting a dog is a big commitment and they are always happy to offer advice to anyone considering giving a dog a home.
