DINAS Powys Players are proud to announce that they have been granted the rights to perform Calendar Girls by Tim Firth.

The show's producers are aiming to break into the Guinness World Records for the most productions of a play in one calendar year, at the same time as raising money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

The Dinas Powys Players were included on the list of drama groups countrywide who are taking part in this initiative which was featured on the BBC Breakfast and local television programmes recently.

It is now your chance to contribute to this deserving cause by supporting the play locally!

The Players are following in the footsteps of the many actresses who have already appeared in the show when members of this popular drama group disrobe to become Calendar Girls.

The play is based on the Miramax motion picture by Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth and was first presented at the Chichester Festival Theatre in September 2008 and transferred to the Noel Coward Theatre in April 2009.

Many readers will be familiar with the film and the play based on the true story of WI members from a village in the Yorkshire Dales who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund in memory of the husband of one of their members.

Calendar Girls became the fastest selling play in British theatre history after opening at the Chichester Festival.

Dinas Powys Players will present Calendar Girls on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 8, 9 and 10, at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall, Britway Road, Dinas Powys.

The production is being directed by Eileen Carryer and the players recommend that both patrons and supporters make a note of these dates on their calendars!
