PENARTH teenager Thom Stephanakis was a volunteer Games Maker at the Paralympics, working mainly at the warm-up track of the Olympic stadium.

His mum Melanie Andrews, of Paget Terrace, said: "He met lots of the Paralympic stars including Oscar Pistorius and David Weir, with whom Thom is pictured after he won his 3rd of 4 gold medals on Thursday night."

Former Stanwell pupil Thom, 19, is about to start his second year at Manchester University studying Law.

"He says it was the experience of a lifetime," added his proud mum.
