12:10pm Monday 17th September 2012 in News
THE Penarth Salvation Army's Care and Share shop in Cornerswell Road is holding a special sale - which is a real treat for book lovers and fans of children's literature!
The majority of the books on offer are old children's books including 1960s Famous Five titles in good condition with dust wrappers and the original Eileen Soper illustrations.
Among other special titles are a first edition of Wandering Wombles, and Bookano stories with pop-up pictures. There are Just William hardbacks, several Asterix titles (some in Welsh), and Tim books by Ardizzione as well as old annuals and story books.
Prices begin at 50p.
In addition, for adults, there is a selection of sailing and seamanship books including Merlin's man by Humphreys (a Welsh seafarer) and a signed copy of Cheerfully at Sea by E Robinson.
Also for adults there are various fiction and non fiction titles of wide ranging interest, including the first edition of English Villages and Hamlets by Humphrey Parkington with a dust wrapper by Brian Cook, who is highly collectible.
And there are nicely-bound copies of classic authors such as Dickens and Hardy. Go along and see for yourself!
The book sale is in addition to the shop's normal range of products.
The shop is at 18 Cornerwell Road, Penarth CF64 2TY and is open 9am to 4.30pm Tuesday and Thursday; and 9am to 3pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
