Penarth dad's 'Team Toy Story' run is a fundraising success
8:50am Monday 17th September 2012 in News
A PENARTH dad and his colleagues adopted the 'no toy gets left behind' principle, when their Toy Story team ran the Cardiff 10km.
NHS mental health manager Phill Chick and fellow animated characters took on the mission to raise money for Daniel's Cwtch Fund.
Three-year-old Daniel Downton, of Barry, was diagnosed with a rare, malignant tumour at the top of his spine - and the fund was established in December 2011 to support him.
The runners were aiming to raise hundreds of pounds to assist CLIC Sargent and LATCH who have supported the family throughout.
Phill, 52, of Forrest Road, who ran as an alien, said: "I work with Daniel's dad Matt, and we just thought we would get together and support his Cwtch Fund.
"I had just finished the Three Peaks challenge so needed to have something as a target and motivation to get out and run.
"I chose the alien because it was the easiest to put together," he added.
"I bought the head on the internet!"
Daniel was given the all-clear two weeks ago.
