ON Friday, September 21, All Saints Church Hall in Victoria Square, Penarth, will play host to a unique musical 'Songwriters Circle'.

The event promises to provide an intimate evening of finger-plucking good guitar music and song with three of South Wales' most celebrated songwriters and guitar wizards, Christopher Rees, John Lewis and Nick Treharne.

Taking to the stage together, the three performers will showcase their own finely crafted songs as well as a few by their biggest influences.

"We'll be playing as individuals or together as the mood takes us, covering a variety of musical genres on both acoustic and electric guitars," said Nick.

Well known and respected musicians in Penarth, both John and Nick are pleased to have the opportunity of performing alongside Christopher Rees, a brilliant Welsh songwriter who regularly visits and collaborates with songwriters in America.

Previously nominated 'best male solo act', Chris has supported the likes of Velvet Underground and John Cale, whilst John and Nick have appeared on the same billing as Imelda May and Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown Blues Band.

With Christopher's gutsy Gretsch guitar playing, John's Americana Roots picking, and Nick's melodic acoustic influences, the evening is sure to be unmissable and excitingly different.

Tickets are £5 in advance and are available from Pencerdd Music, Station Approach, Penarth, or £7 on the door.

Doors open 7.30pm, performance starts at 8.15pm. Bar available.
