PODS get set for an updated and fun look at Shakespeare
4:40pm Sunday 23rd September 2012 in News
UPDATED AND FUN: PODS' new production of Twelfth Night.
IN SHAKESPEARE'S festival year, PODS have broken new ground and are bringing an updated and fun look at Shakespeare to the people of Penarth and surrounding areas.
Local director Perry Thomas said: "Twelfth Night is a beloved play by Shakespeare and is given a full blooded comic treatment."
Not set in any particular period, the costumes reflect a comic fantasia where Charlie Chaplin is likely to rub shoulders with George Formby.
Though tinged with melancholy this great comedy is given a vigorous, ensemble treatmen - accompanied by live, originally composed music by Keith and Joe Ingram. So for those of you that thought Shakespeare was heavy going, you could not be more wrong!
Go along and join in the fun, assured in the knowledge that as it is a PODS production, it will be an entertaining delight.
Twelfth Night is at the Paget Rooms, Penarth, October 17-20. Tickets from www.ticketsource.co.uk/pods or from Brian Gardner on 029 2071 2260 and in person from Tenovus, 23 Windsor Road, Penarth.
Adults £10, concessions £9.
