Penarth woman aiming for Miss Cymru International success
8:40am Monday 1st October 2012 in News By Robert James Owen
BEAUTY: Local beauty Danielle Winch is aiming for the Miss Cymru International crown.
A PENARTH woman who represented Wales in the Miss Universe Great Britain competition in 2010 is hoping for success in the first ever Miss Cymru International.
Danielle Winch is aiming to qualify for the regional rounds of the Miss GB International competition, and hopes she will go on to represent Wales in the finals.
The beauty competition is run by The Joshua Foundation, and provides a platform for young women all over the UK to help fundraise for the charity so they can continue to give holidays and experiences to children with cancer and their families.
Danielle, 28, who has a degree in events management, is currently a legal assistant hoping to become a duty solicitor and a legal representative for the police force.
She regularly takes part in the Race for Life and during her time as a finalist for Miss Universe GB she arranged a charity event at the Vale Hotel in Hensol, for The Joshua Foundation.
"It was the fundraising for The Joshua Foundation that drew my attention, as I did fundraising for them whilst in Miss Universe GB," she said.
"As an older candidate it will be my last chance to get involved as a contestant. I would really love to be an ambassador for The Joshua Foundation."
Ben Cornelius-Price, national director of Miss GB International said: "It's wonderful when the girls see the value of their fundraising efforts. It not only shows that they are beautiful but they are compassionate and caring as well.
"I hope more girls will be encouraged to enter, especially those who are older and may feel they wouldn't be successful. Danielle's success in Miss Universe GB shows it can be done."
Danielle will have to wait to find out if she has made it into Miss Cymru International as applications are not closed as of yet. Regional finalists will be notified by November 20.
The current holder of the Miss GB International crown, Cally Jane Beech, went on to represent Great Britain in the Miss International competition in Chicago in July, where she placed in the top ten.
Applications are still open, and the age limit is 29 - visit www.missgbinternational.com
