ACHIEVEMENT: Peter from the Vale Youth Service Young Inspectors Team presents the Penarth Youth Project with the National Children and Young People's Participation Kitemark for Wales award, with young people from the Summer 2012 Teen Scheme.

PENARTH Youth Project, with help from the young people at the Disability Teen Scheme, has been awarded the National Children and Young People's Participation Kitemark for Wales.

The young people have taken ownership of the Disability Teen Scheme and inform the entire programme - which is the backbone of the Welsh Assembly Government's Having a Voice, Having a Choice Participation Unit.

There are seven core principles of participation and PYP was found to be 'achieving' in each category. The Young Inspectors Team felt PYP did especially well on Standards: 3 No Discrimination, 4 Respect, and 5 You Get Something Out of It.

Manager of PYP Tracey Downes said: "I would like to thank all the staff and team for their hard work. We are very proud to have achieved the kitemark."
